Middlebury College School in Japan, located at International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, is seeking a full-time Student Affairs and Cultural Coordinator beginning in July 2018 to work with US college/university students studying abroad for a semester/year.
Job description: The successful candidate will be asked to, plan and implement co-curricular activities, coordinate an internship program, co-teach content-based Japanese language courses at intermediate / advanced levels, and assist with administrative tasks in a study-abroad office. Other responsibilities will include working with the director on: developing and maintaining local partnerships, designing and directing orientation sessions, handling on-site emergencies, and mentoring students.
Requirements: Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in Japanese, an MA in Japanese Pedagogy or relevant field of study, and 2 or more years of experience teaching Japanese at the college level. Experience with study abroad is also desirable, but not required. Must be self-motivated, creative, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively as a team member. Must possess strong administrative skills, be well-organized, and detail-oriented. Candidates must also already have work authorization in Japan.
Working Conditions: Salary (including benefits) is based on the salary scale of the International Christian University.
